The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a skilled Technical Writer to join a dynamic team in Cairns, Queensland. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and editing technical documentation to support maintenance activities across various projects. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of work instructions, repair specifications, and other essential documents critical to the maintenance of defense vessels and systems.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop technical documentation to support maintenance activities, ensuring clarity and accuracy in technical specs and instructions.
- Participate in planning processes for maintenance execution and delivery, particularly in relation to EMPs (Engineering Maintenance Plans).
- Create work instructions and repair specifications to guide repairers through maintenance tasks, including preventative, corrective, and engineering change maintenance.
- Support the identification and management of risks during maintenance delivery, especially regarding ship certification impacts.
- Assist the maintenance team during production and maintenance activities with technical writing support.
Your Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in a Quality Technician or Technical Writer role.
- Experience in mechanical, electrical, or electronic manufacturing with a strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including geometry tolerances.
- Proven ability to interact effectively with peers and external teams to implement business improvements.
- Well-developed self-management skills with the ability to work independently to deliver projects on time, within budget, and with high quality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Project.
- Familiarity with Maintenance Management Systems (e.g., AMPS, CMTU, Maritime Maintenance Portal, IFS).
- Understanding of Quality practices and continuous improvement.
