The Opportunity:
  
An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and committed Solicitor with an unrestricted practising certificate to join a dynamic legal team. Working within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment, you will provide high-quality legal representation and advice to vulnerable clients across a range of matters.
  
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering legal advice, casework, and court representation in areas such as family law, child protection, domestic and family violence, and victims’ assistance.
  • Managing a varied and rewarding caseload, often involving sensitive and complex legal issues.
  • Engaging in community legal education (CLE) activities to inform and empower communities on legal rights and processes.
  • Collaborating closely with Family Advocate Support Workers, paralegals, and other support staff to ensure holistic client outcomes.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in line with legal, ethical, and organisational standards.
  • Actively participating in regional outreach and community engagement initiatives as required.

Your Skills & Experience:
  
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland and eligibility for or current possession of an Unrestricted QLS Practising Certificate.
  • Demonstrated experience in family law, child protection, or domestic and family violence matters.
  • Ability to deliver legal services in a trauma-informed, culturally safe, and client-focused manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with vulnerable and diverse client groups.
  • A valid QLD Open Driver Licence and willingness to travel to regional and remote communities as needed.
  • A current (or ability to obtain) Blue Card and National Police Clearance.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Principal Solicitor, you will undertake direct client services including legal advice; legal task work; ongoing casework; representation; duty lawyer services; information and referrals; awareness raising; networking and promotional work; law reform and social policy work.

Your Skills & Experience
  • A Bachelor of Law Degree with Admission into the Supreme Court of Queensland;
  • A current Practicing Certificate which entitles you to practice as a Solicitor in Queensland, with at least 2 years PAE;
  • Demonstrated experience in practice areas, including but not limited to mental health, family, and elder law;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with vulnerable and disadvantaged communities;
  • High level of written and oral communication skills;
  • The ability to prioritise a busy workload and meet strict deadlines;
  • Stakeholder management and negotiation skills;
  • An agile, and adaptable working style with a positive attitude.

The Skills You Bring
  • Tertiary qualified in Law and a Legal Practitioner within the State of Queensland;
  • Unrestricted Practising Certificate;
  • Family Law is one of your strongest passions and you’ll have demonstrated experience in legal practice areas such as; Child Protection, Family and Domestic Violence and Victims Compensation and Assistance;
  • Great communication is essential as is the ability to communicate effectively with all walks of life;
  • You’re a natural leader offering a personable, driven and respectful leadership style;
  • Cultural understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is essential.

You will need to hold a current Queensland driver’s license, Working with Children Blue Card (or the ability to obtain one) and a willingness to undertake a National Police Clearance check.
